Advanced Whittling - Bird in a Cage

Scot Lang will demonstrate and summarize how he carves this challenging project with just a knife (or two).  Scot has been carving for decades and is the longtime leader of the Central Coast Woodcarvers club in Morro Bay, California.

This project is carved from one block of wood.  The short grain at the top of the bars can be quite fragile. The trapeze swings freely and has a bird sitting on it.  

Scot uses a special knife with a long, thin blade that he makes himself from jigsaw blades (click here to see our program about it).
